Door Frames, Linings & Architraves in Basingstoke
Half the doors that stick or show a wedge of light do so because the frame is out of square, not the door. When a frame is twisted, damaged or simply ugly, we remove it, fit a new lining plumb and square, pack and fix it properly and finish it with new architrave and stops.

What door frames, linings & architraves includes
We also form new openings for en-suites and knock-throughs, fit frames to them and hang the door, so the whole thing is one job with one person responsible for it.

- Frames for new openings in stud and block walls
- Door stops and architraves fitted and mitred cleanly
- Fire-rated linings where required

Door Frames, Linings & Architraves: your questions answered
Can a new door be hung in an old frame?
If the frame is sound and square, yes, and it saves money. If it is twisted or the stops have been hacked about over the years, a new lining gives a far better result and we will tell you which applies.
What is the difference between a frame and a lining?
A lining is the plain timber surround for an internal door, with a separate door stop; a frame has the rebate for the door built in and is used for external doors and fire doors. We fit both.
Do you make the opening bigger or smaller?
Yes. Openings can be reduced for a standard door size or opened up for a wider door or a pair, in stud or masonry walls, with any structural work agreed first.
